Great beach for kids, we had our dogs with us on leashes. Very quiet, a freshwater shower, grills and port a Johns and a pavilion. First time on Rutherford beach and a great experience. Swimming was not recommended due to “bacteria” in water.....but all the ocean has “bacteria” so.......I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
If people are expecting white sandy beaches and clear water, go to Cozumel, this is not your place. This place is far out in the country and very quiet. You can drive and park on the beach. Camping is FREE. There are no hookups of any kind so you must be self contained but you can park on the water's edge. Great fishing and usually crabbing. You can build a fire on the beach using driftwood. This is a VERY safe place. For being in such a rural area, there is a full time EMS station located less than 5 minutes away and law enforcement is there constantly patrolling to make sure everyone is abiding by the rules, but problems there are usually very few and far between.
This is my most absolute favorite beach in Louisiana....and I live on Grand Isle Beach! This beach is clean and full of beautiful shells. You can drive on the beach and camp overnight for no charge. Absolutely fabulous!!
Love it here we go all the time! My kids love it. It's very peaceful.
